Project Engineer
Job Description:
We are working closely alongside a Local Authority in Hillingdon to assist with the appointment of a Project Engineer, on a 3-month contract, highly likely to be extended at clients discretion. Please apply with your CV for immediate consideration.
Rate of Pay: £34.00 - £44.86 per hour
Summary:
Responsible for the efficient and effective works delivery of Councils Vehicle Crossover programme and full service from application right through to the implementation of Domestic and Heavy-Duty crossover requests received by the Council
Responsibilities:
- To ensure other team members receive the appropriate level of communication to maintain engagement with the Councils vision, priorities and activities.
- To effectively manage and coordinate any direct reports.
- Undertake preliminary site surveys, taking various dimensions, logging street furniture, road markings and signs etc, to allow construction drawings to be prepared for the full assessment and implementation of all crossover works.
- Contribute to the annual Team Planning process as requested by the Highways Delivery Manager.
- To take responsibility for the self achievement of budget targets and individual contributions to cost management.
Qualifications:
- HND, Foundation degree, degree or diploma qualified (or equivalent) in Civil Engineering or significant relevant experience in the design and/or delivery of highway maintenance schemes.
Experience Required:
- Significant experiences of highways project design and delivery.
- Good technical knowledge and awareness of highways improvement design and maintenance techniques.
- Experience of working in a wide range of Highways projects using both traditional and modern forms of design, maintenance and repair.
- Proven experience of meeting deadlines with effective accurate project reporting at management/project level.
Knowledge and Skills:
- Knowledge of professional project management practices and methodology.
- Capable of applying a range of technical skills in a prescribed manner. Management of small projects.
- A good understanding of relevant health & safety legislation and codes of practice is required to ensure that safety is a primary consideration for all works.
- Knowledge of Consultant appointments, construction, maintenance and repair contracts, warranties and other ancillary project documentation and the legal issues affecting Highways projects.
Requirements:
- Evidence of continued professional development.
- Hold a current UK Drivers Licence or equivalent and have vehicle available for use at all times
- Ability to fully access a wide variety of sites and rough ground in order to carry out the role.
- Ability to travel out of Borough to evaluate potential contractors and consultants.
- Ability to work flexibly to meet the needs of the service, including some evening meetings.
