CCTV Operations Officer
Job Description:
We are working closely alongside a Local Authority in Islington to assist with the appointment of a CCTV Operations Officer, on a 3-month contract, highly likely to be extended at clients discretion. Please apply with your CV for immediate consideration.
Rate of Pay: £22.20 - £29.49 per hour
Summary:
The CCTV Operations Officer will be responsible for monitoring, operating, and maintaining the Councils public space surveillance systems to ensure community safety and crime prevention. Working within a highly secure control room environment, the officer will liaise with police, external agencies, and internal departments to detect, deter, and respond to incidents in real time. The role requires adherence to CCTV codes of practice, data protection legislation, and council policies, ensuring integrity, confidentiality, and professionalism at all times.
Responsibilities:
- Operate CCTV equipment and proactively monitor live surveillance to detect and respond to incidents.
- Ensure compliance with the Councils CCTV Code of Practice and legal frameworks (GDPR, Human Rights Act 1998, Data Protection Act 2018, Civil Contingencies Act 2004).
- Liaise with police, emergency services, council departments, and external agencies to support coordinated responses.
- Manage evidential material, ensuring accurate recording, secure handling, and continuity of exhibits to standards acceptable in court.
- Log daily events, incidents, and system faults accurately on databases and occurrence logs.
- Operate and maintain radio communication systems, ensuring effective information exchange.
Qualifications:
- CCTV Operations (Public Space Surveillance) Qualified to minimum BTEC Level 2.
Requirements:
- Current SIA Public Space Surveillance Licence.
- Previous experience working in a Public Space CCTV control room.
- Proven experience liaising with police and partner agencies.
- Skilled in operating CCTV monitoring and recording systems in compliance with SOPs and Codes of Practice.
- Experience using Synectics and Vigilant CCTV systems (preferred).
- Demonstrated ability to prepare accurate reports, witness statements, and evidential material.
