Service Manager
Job Description:
We are working closely alongside a Local Authority in Southwark to assist with the appointment of a Service Manager, on a 3month contract, highly likely to be extended at clients discretion. Please apply with your CV for immediate consideration.
Rate of Pay: £22.67 - £29.90 per hour
Summary:
We are seeking an experienced and driven Service Manager to lead a team of craft operatives delivering maintenance services to Southwark Councils housing stock. The post holder will oversee day-to-day, emergency, and void property repairs, ensuring compliance with contractual, health and safety, and fire safety obligations. This leadership role demands strong technical knowledge of the building industry, customer service commitment, and team management expertise to uphold service excellence and continuous improvement.
Responsibilities:
- Deliver a comprehensive maintenance service, including voids, day-to-day, and emergency repairs using in-house teams and contractors.
- Lead and manage operatives: set targets, monitor performance and conduct, identify training needs, and support professional development.
- Ensure high compliance with Health & Safety and Fire Safety regulations.
- Drive customer satisfaction by responding promptly to queries and complaints.
- Promote a customer-focused approach to all services.
Requirements:
- HNC in Building Studies or equivalent (or significant relevant experience).
- Evidence of continuous professional development.
- Strong understanding of construction, maintenance contracts, and urban housing challenges.
- Knowledge of landlord/tenant legislation, leaseholder consultation, disrepair legalities, and relevant building regulations.
Experience:
- Proven experience managing operatives and contractors in a building repairs environment.
- Experience dealing with the public and resolving service issues effectively.
- Budget management and resource allocation experience.
