Job Description:
We are working closely alongside a Local Authority in Bromley to assist with the appointment of an Tech Support Officer Building Control, on a 12-Months contract, likely to be extended at clients discretion. Please apply with your CV for immediate consideration.
Rate of Pay: £13.02- £16.82 per hour
Hours Per Week: 22
Summary:
The Tech Support Officer Building Control will provide essential administrative and technical support to the Building Control Section in a customer-oriented manner. This role is crucial for the efficient processing and determination of Building Regulation applications and handling general day-to-day enquiries. This position requires strong organisational skills, attention to detail, and excellent communication abilities to interact with a wide range of stakeholders.
Responsibilities:
- Answer enquiries from the public and advise on the necessity of submitting Building Regulations applications, including different application routes and associated charges.
- Receive, register, and validate Building Regulation applications on the computer system.
- Check Commencement Notices, enter details on the computer system, record charges, and complete VAT receipts.
- Invoice Charge Requests, follow up on outstanding charge letters, and manage checklists of outstanding fees, liaising with Finance or Borough Treasurer's on recovery of charges.
- Issue Completion Certificates and collect charges where appropriate.
- Implement the Councils equal opportunities policies and statutory responsibilities regarding individuals and service delivery.
Essentials:
- Proven communication skills with the public, developers, builders, and architects. Good oral and written communication skills and an ability to communicate with a wide range of customers, including Councillors, officers, architects, developers, builders, and householders.
- An understanding of computer systems
- An understanding of the political considerations involved in working in a Local Authority.
