Senior Electrical Engineer
Job Description:
We are working closely alongside a Local Authority in Southwark to assist with the appointment of a Senior Electrical Engineer, on a 2.5-month contract, likely to be extended at clients discretion. Please apply with your CV for immediate consideration.
Rate of Pay: £24.90 - £32.84 per hour
Summary:
We are seeking an experienced Electrical Inspector to support the delivery of a large-scale Domestic Electrical Installation Condition Reporting (EICR) programme. The role involves reviewing EICR documentation, agreeing and monitoring remedial works, and ensuring compliance with BS7671 standards. A key aspect of the role will be overseeing fire alarm installation and servicing works, including certification. This position is critical to ensuring electrical safety standards across a large portfolio of social housing stock.
Responsibilities:
- Review and assess EICRs submitted by contractors and agree appropriate remedial works to achieve satisfactory outcomes.
- Ensure all remedial electrical and fire alarm works comply with BS7671 and BS5839-6:2019 standards.
- Monitor the performance and quality of electrical contractors, ensuring works meet technical, safety, and contract standards.
- Produce clear, concise reports for internal and external meetings, highlighting progress, compliance issues, and contractor performance.
- Conduct site-based quality control inspections and meet with stakeholders (e.g., residents, contractors, and consultants).
Qualifications:
- Level 3 Qualification in Electrical Installations or equivalent time-served apprenticeship.
Experience:
- Proven experience overseeing electrical contractors delivering EICR and remedial programmes.
- Experience reviewing and interpreting EICR and fire alarm certificates.
- Familiarity with AICO domestic fire alarm systems and RF commissioning.
- Extensive experience working in a social housing or similar environment, understanding the sensitivities and challenges it presents.
- Experience producing reports and presenting at progress or stakeholder meetings.
- Understanding of asbestos regulations and responsibilities in the context of electrical work.
