Registered Building Inspector

 Job Description:

We are working closely alongside a Local Authority in North Yorkshire to assist with the appointment of a Registered Building Inspector, on a 4-month contract, highly likely to be extended at clients discretion. Please apply with your CV for immediate consideration.

Rate of Pay: £30.72 - £39.00 per hour

Summary:

The Building Control Surveyor plays a crucial role in ensuring that construction projects within North Yorkshire meet the required safety, sustainability, accessibility, and design standards in accordance with the Building Regulations and allied legislation. This career-graded role supports professionals at different stages of experience and responsibility, ranging from routine inspections to managing complex cases and emergency structural responses.

Responsibilities:

  • Inspect and assess building plans and site work to ensure compliance with Building Regulations and the Building Act 1984.
  • Support enforcement action for non-compliance and contribute to ongoing quality assurance (e.g., ISO 9001).
  • Deliver excellent customer service and maintain accurate records.
  • Develop professional skills and knowledge through continuous learning.
  • Independently manage more complex inspections and technical assessments.

Qualifications & Knowledge:

  • HND/Degree in Building Control, Surveying, Construction, Structural Engineering, or equivalent.
  • Registration (or working towards) with the Building Safety Regulator as per the HSE Building Inspector Competency Framework (BICoF).
  • Knowledge of construction techniques and materials.
  • Strong working knowledge of Building Regulations and related legislation.
