Multi Trade Operative

 Job Description:

We are working closely alongside a Local Authority in Southwark to assist with the appointment of a Multi Trade Operative, on a 3-month contract, highly likely to be extended at clients discretion. Please apply with your CV for immediate consideration.

Rate of Pay: £19.19 - £25.04 per hour

Summary:

As a Multi Skilled Operative, you will provide high-quality, skilled maintenance and repair services across Southwarks housing stock. Working within a multidisciplinary team, you will be expected to deliver a wide range of trade tasks including carpentry, plumbing, tiling, plastering, and general repairs. You'll play a key role in ensuring safe, well-maintained homes and contribute to customer satisfaction by delivering timely and professional services.

Responsibilities:

  • Carry out repairs, installations, maintenance, and refurbishments to council-owned housing stock.
  • Deliver a wide range of skilled trade work, including groundworks, carpentry, plumbing, glazing, painting, tiling, and plastering.
  • Work independently with a high degree of self-management and minimal supervision.
  • Ensure health and safety compliance at all times, including use of PPE and safe storage of tools and materials.
  • Use mobile technology for reporting, job tracking, and data entry.

Qualifications:

  • NVQ Level 2 in Plumbing or NVQ Level 3 in Carpentry, or equivalent.
  • NVQ Level 3 in Multi-trade construction or equivalent.

Experience:

  • Proven experience in the building trades sector, delivering maintenance and repairs in both void and tenanted properties.
  • Experience working independently and as part of a team.
  • Experience delivering services in diverse communities.

Requirements:

  • Good literacy and numeracy skills.
  • Valid UK driving licence.
  • Awareness of current Building Regulations, Fire Safety, and Health & Safety legislation.
  • Ongoing commitment to professional development.
  • Strong customer service experience in a housing or community setting
  • Comfortable making decisions and solving practical problems on site.
