Triage and Engagement Officer

 Job Description:

We are working closely alongside a Local Authority in Lewisham to assist with the appointment of a Triage and Engagement Officer, on a 9-month contract, likely to be extended at clients discretion. Please apply with your CV for immediate consideration.

Rate of Pay: £17.78 - £22.64 per hour

Summary:

The Triage and Engagement Officer will play a key role in developing and delivering a single front door triage system to support residents, particularly those who are harder to reach, such as NEET young people or economically inactive individuals. This post will provide trauma-informed triage, outreach, and engagement, while also supporting Lewisham Works employer engagement and adult learning offers. The role requires excellent communication, empathy, and organisational skills to ensure that residents are effectively referred, supported, and sustained in employment, training, or functional skills interventions.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement a single front door triage system for Lewisham Works.
  • Provide trauma-informed triage to residents, young people, and personal advisors.
  • Conduct outreach to engage harder-to-reach resident groups, such as NEET young people and inactive individuals.
  • Support the employer engagement team to broker and enrol residents into Intermediate Labour Market (ILM) placements.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with employers to promote opportunities for young people.

Qualifications:

  • Good levels of literacy and numeracy.

Requirements:

  • Evidence of training or awareness in trauma-informed practice (desirable).

Experiences:

  • Proven experience of working with diverse resident groups, including those harder to engage.
  • Track record in customer service and stakeholder relationship management.
  • Experience in trauma-informed practices, outreach, or community engagement.
  • Experience using IT systems for data management and reporting.
