Community Employment Mentor
Job Description:
We are working closely alongside a Local Authority in Newport to assist with the appointment of a Community Employment Mentor, on a 3-month contract, highly likely to be extended at clients discretion. Please apply with your CV for immediate consideration.
Rate of Pay: £14.32- £18.36 per hour
Summary:
Newport City Council is seeking a motivated and approachable Community Employment Mentor to support individuals and families in social housing and the wider community to access employment, training, and development opportunities. The role will focus on empowering residents to overcome barriers to work, improve their skills, and achieve sustainable employment. Working closely with housing teams, local employers, training providers, and partner organisations, the Mentor will play a vital role in promoting independence, financial stability, and stronger communities.
Responsibilities:
- Provide one-to-one mentoring and employability support to tenants and community members seeking work or training.
- Conduct needs assessments to identify barriers to employment and develop personalised action plans.
- Support clients with CV writing, job applications, interview preparation, and digital skills.
- Motivate and encourage clients to build confidence, resilience, and independence.
Essentials:
- Level 3 qualificationin employability, advice and guidance, housing, or a related field.
- Experience in employability, careers guidance, housing, or community support.
- Experience of case management, action planning, and tracking progress towards outcomes.

- You should be available to work immediately or at a short notice.
- You should have right to work in U.K
