Senior Technical Surveyor
Job Description:
We are working closely alongside a Local Authority in Somerset to assist with the appointment of a Senior Technical Surveyor, on a 13-month contract, highly likely to be extended at clients discretion. Please apply with your CV for immediate consideration.
Rate of Pay: £31.85 - £43.99 per hour
Summary:
We're looking for a Senior Technical Surveyor to lead the delivery of high-quality surveying and technical services across the Council's housing portfolio. You'll oversee complex repair, maintenance and refurbishment projects, provide expert technical advice, manage contractors, ensure compliance with housing legislation and building regulations, and help deliver safe, sustainable, and customer-focused housing services.
Responsibilities:
- Manage complex surveying, maintenance, refurbishment and capital works projects.
- Undertake property inspections, diagnose building defects and specify appropriate remedial works.
- Prepare specifications, schedules of work, cost estimates and technical reports.
- Manage contractors, consultants and external suppliers, ensuring quality, value for money and compliance.
- Monitor project progress, budgets, quality standards and statutory compliance.
- Ensure compliance with housing legislation, health & safety regulations and building standards.
Qualification:
- Degree or HNC/HND in Building Surveying, Construction, Building Studies or a related discipline.
Essentials:
- Membership of RICS, CIOB or equivalent professional body (or working towards).
- Full UK Driving Licence.
- Significant experience in housing/property surveying, repairs and maintenance.
- Strong knowledge of building construction, defects diagnosis and repair techniques.
- Experience managing contractors and delivering planned and reactive maintenance projects.
- Knowledge of housing legislation, CDM Regulations, Building Regulations and Health & Safety requirements.
