Administrative Assistant/Officer
Job Description:
We are working closely alongside a Local Authority in Newport to assist with the appointment of an Administrative Assistant/Officer, on a 4.3-month contract, highly likely to be extended at clients discretion. Please apply with your CV for immediate consideration.
Rate of Pay: £12.85 - £16.32 per hour
Summary:
To provide high-quality administrative and business support services to ensure the smooth and efficient operation of teams within the service area. The postholder will handle day-to-day administrative duties, support senior managers, maintain accurate records and systems, and contribute to effective service delivery.
Responsibilities:
- Deliver a full range of administrative tasks, including data processing, record keeping, and document management.
- Support Heads of Service through diary management, meeting preparation, and correspondence handling.
- Update and maintain systems and databases such as WCCIS and other digital tools.
- Assist in performance reporting, new staff inductions, and problem-solving for teams.
- Liaise with internal and external stakeholders while maintaining confidentiality and compliance with GDPR.
- 5 GCSEs (AC), including English and Maths, or equivalent (QCF Level 2).
- IT qualification such as RSA Stage 2, CLAIT, or ECDL (or equivalent).
Requirements:
- Significant administrative experience in an office setting.
- Providing support to teams and/or senior managers.
- Minute-taking and document production.
- Working with complex client information (desirable).
- Experience within a local government or social services environment (desirable).
