Our firm helps clients pursue compensation through both litigation and asbestos bankruptcy trust fund claims. We are seeking a Medical Records Specialist to support our Asbestos Department.
Position Overview
The Medical Records Specialist will play a vital role in reviewing and managing the medical documentation necessary for submitting and supporting asbestos trust fund claims. Your primary responsibility will be to ensure that client medical records, including pathology reports and radiology findings, meet the medical criteria required by various asbestos trust funds.
Key Responsibilities
- Medical Records Review: Carefully examine pathology and radiology reports to confirm they meet the eligibility standards established by asbestos bankruptcy trusts.
- Medical Documentation Coordination: Order X-rays and hospital records; follow up persistently with providers to ensure timely delivery.
- Radiology & B-Read Coordination: Work closely with radiologists to facilitate and track B-read reports used to support asbestos exposure claims.
- Record Management: Maintain organized, up-to-date files of all relevant records within our case management system.
- Internal Collaboration: Work alongside case managers and attorneys to ensure each trust claim is supported with the required documentation.
- Client Support: Occasionally communicate with clients or providers to clarify medical record details or confirm appointments.
Ideal Qualifications
- Experience working in a legal or medical setting (e.g., personal injury firm, records department, asbestos firm)
- Familiarity with medical terminology, particularly related to lung disease, radiology, or oncology
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to analyze and interpret pathology and imaging reports
- Previous experience coordinating with hospitals, imaging centers, and radiologists
- Self-motivated, organized, and capable of managing deadlines across multiple cases
- Tech-savvy and comfortable working with case management tools (Salesforce a plus)
