About The Role:

The project will, in two tranches of work, build and expand upon on in-service capabilities delivered under previous project phases to enhance command and control, situational awareness and targeting for the Joint Land Force. The system will enable the Joint Land Force to make faster, safer and better-informed decisions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Actively supporting the BMS (Tactical) Project Manager in meeting accountabilities in setting work priorities, workflows and work packages for project personnel.
  • Supporting the BMS (Tactical) team in delivering against its milestones, within cost, within budget and to the agreed scope.
  • Conduct of planning, scheduling and estimating of work/tasks to meet Defence requirements.
  • Preparing project documentation including strategies, plans, schedules and estimates, and assisting with the review and clearance processes for project documentation.
  • Providing expert project management, professional and policy advice to project teams and stakeholders.
  • Preparation and facilitation of briefings, workshops, presentations and reports for the LAND 4140 BMS management team and other Defence stakeholders.
  • Contribute to strategic planning, program and project management or policy development for the project, providing advice on innovation and business improvement.
  • Support the preparation and drafting of briefs, complex correspondence, reports and submissions for board/committee consideration on project status in accordance with organisational requirements, including monthly Project Performance Review Information Platform (PPRIP) reporting and internal LC4S Branch governance and management forums.
  • Support development and maintenance of processes that support the effective and efficient management and governance of the project.
  • For discrete tasking, be able to lead a multi-disciplinary team and be accountable to set work priorities and workflows for required work packages.
  • Work collaboratively to develop and maintain beneficial, effective relationships and negotiate effectively to influence stakeholders and subject matter experts to deliver agreed project outcomes.
  • Assess, interpret and comply with legislative, policy and regulatory frameworks.
  • Be accountable for accurate completion of work within defined timeframes and quality requirements within a matrixed, integrated workforce.

About You:

  • Postgraduate qualifications or demonstrated equivalent experience in project management.
  • More than 8 years experience in the field of project/program management.
  • Experience with Foreign Military Sales procurement processes and activities.
  • A current security clearance (minimum NV1).
  • A working understanding (minimum) of project finances within the Defence environment and the relationship with Defence Finance Group processes and systems.
  • Understanding of the application of project management practices within complex Defence acquisition projects.
    Very strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Working in complex and challenging environments.
  • Working in a complex stakeholder system.
  • Highly effective communication, both formally and informally, including advanced technical writing skills.
  • Initiative in keeping personal skills up to date, maintaining awareness of industry developments and pursuing continuous improvement opportunities.
  • Ability to analyse, design, plan, execute, and evaluate work to time, cost and quality targets while assessing and evaluating risk.
