About the opportunity:
You will provide a range of Network Engineering advisory duties supporting our clients in Defence and Govt, either on client site or back of office.
We are seeking expressions of interest from experienced Defence System Administrators to join our dynamic team and play a critical role in ensuring the efficiency and security of our systems to support upcoming Defence contracts in either permanent or contracting engagements.
As a Network Engineer at C4i Solutions, you will be responsible for the design, implementation, and management of secure and efficient network systems for our clients. You will work closely with other IT professionals to ensure the stability and integrity of in-house and client network services. This role requires a deep understanding of networking technologies, strong problem-solving skills, and the ability to manage multiple projects in a dynamic environment.
You could be expected to:
Provide Level 2 and Level 3 support for system issues, troubleshooting, and resolving complex technical problems.
- Manage and maintain system infrastructure, including servers, storage, networks, and backups.
- Implement, configure, and monitor enterprise systems and services.
- Assist in the planning and execution of upgrades, patches, and system enhancements.
- Collaborate with other IT teams to ensure seamless integration and performance across all platforms.
- Monitor system performance and ensure the security and stability of infrastructure.
- Create and maintain technical documentation, ensuring system configurations are up-to-date.
- Assist with disaster recovery planning and execution as needed.

Qualifications Relevant To Your Experience.
- Due to the nature of our work, An Australian Citizen with a current or recently inactive AGSVA clearance is required.
- Able to multi-task and prioritise workload.
- Able to show initiative and adaptable to client requirements.
- Able to build and maintain relationships.
- Able to manage conflict.
- A self-starter who takes the initiative with excellent problem-solving skills.
- A high level of communication both written and verbal.
- An ability to work either individually or as part of a broader team.
- Proven experience as a System Administrator L2/L3 in an enterprise/Defence environment.
- Strong knowledge of Windows/Linux servers, virtualization technologies (e.g., VMware, Hyper-V), and cloud services (AWS, Azure).
- Expertise in networking concepts such as LAN/WAN, firewalls, VPNs, and switching/routing.
- Experience with Active Directory, DNS, and DHCP configuration and troubleshooting.
- Knowledge of security principles and best practices, including firewalls and anti-virus/endpoint management.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to resolve complex system issues.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
- Certifications such as MCSA, MCSE, RHCE, or equivalent are a plus.
- Understanding of network protocols
- Understanding and implementing security best practices (Essential8, Information Security Manual)
