Role Overview:
The Butler/House Manager is responsible for overseeing the smooth operation of a private household, delivering the highest standards of service, managing household staff, and ensuring all aspects of the residence function seamlessly. The ideal candidate is polished, discreet, highly organized, and service-oriented with a strong background in hospitality or private household management.
Roles & Responsibilities:
- Oversee daily household activities to ensure smooth and efficient operations.
- Manage schedules, routines, and standard procedures for household staff and tasks.
- Supervise chefs, cleaners, drivers, gardeners, and part-time contractors.
- Handle budgeting, expense tracking, bill payments, and household purchases.
- Liaise with external vendors, contractors, and service providers.
- Ensure privacy, discretion, and household confidentiality at all times.
Staff Supervision
- Recruit, train, and oversee domestic staff performance and scheduling.
- Monitor attendance, manage rosters, and ensure compliance with employment policies.
- Guide service standards and foster a high-performance team culture.
Event & Guest Management
- Plan and manage family events, private functions, and guest visits.
- Coordinate logistics, staffing, menu planning, and décor.
- Ensure guests receive warm, attentive, and professional service.
Butler & Lifestyle Support
- Provide formal table service, manage wine cellar, and wardrobe organization.
- Oversee packing/unpacking for travel and special requests.
- Ensure timely responses to communications and maintain service excellence.
Requirements
- At least 5 years of experience as a House Manager or similar role in private high-net-worth residences.
- Background in luxury hospitality, cabin crew (with supervisory duties), or hotel butler service preferred.
- Familiarity with VIP household protocols, etiquette, and high-touch service standards.
- Discreet, professional, trustworthy, and capable of handling confidential matters.
- Hands-on, proactive, and able to work independently with strong initiative.
- Organized, detail-oriented, and service-minded with excellent leadership and time management skills.
- Calm under pressure with excellent interpersonal and communication abilities.
- Fluent in English (spoken and written).
- Flexible with working hours, including weekends.
- Possesses a valid driver's license and passport, open to occasional travel.
