About the Opportunity

An exciting opportunity exists for a commercially driven Business Development Manager to help grow a leading aviation and charter services operation in Papua New Guinea.

This role is responsible for identifying new business opportunities, developing strategic client relationships, expanding charter service revenue, and growing agency and corporate partnerships. The successful candidate will work closely with operational and commercial teams to develop innovative solutions for clients across the mining, energy, government, infrastructure, defence, tourism, and corporate sectors.

This position offers the opportunity to play a key role in shaping commercial strategy while working within one of the most dynamic aviation markets in the Asia-Pacific region.

Key Responsibilities

Business Development

  • Identify and secure new business opportunities across mining, oil & gas, government, defence, tourism, infrastructure and corporate sectors.
  • Build and maintain a strong sales pipeline.
  • Develop and execute business development strategies to increase charter revenue and market share.
  • Establish and grow relationships with key decision-makers and stakeholders.
  • Identify opportunities to expand agency partnerships and commercial networks.

Sales & Commercial Growth

  • Prepare and deliver compelling client presentations and proposals.
  • Lead commercial discussions and contract negotiations.
  • Develop tailored charter and aviation solutions that meet client requirements.
  • Support tender submissions and business development campaigns.
  • Achieve agreed revenue growth and business development targets.

Client & Stakeholder Management

  • Act as a key point of contact for strategic accounts.
  • Build long-term client relationships through exceptional service and responsiveness.
  • Work collaboratively with operational, engineering, safety and finance teams to ensure successful service delivery.
  • Maintain high levels of client satisfaction and contract retention.

Market Intelligence

  • Monitor market trends, competitor activity and emerging opportunities.
  • Conduct market analysis to identify new growth sectors and customer needs.
  • Provide recommendations regarding pricing, service offerings and market positioning.
  • Contribute to long-term commercial strategy and planning.

Skills & Experience

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • 5–10+ years' experience in business development, commercial management, account management or charter sales.
  • Strong experience developing new business and managing key client relationships.
  • Proven success in achieving sales and revenue growth targets.
  • Strong commercial acumen and negotiation skills.
  • Experience preparing proposals, tenders and commercial submissions.
  • Ability to analyse market trends and develop growth strategies.
  • Experience using CRM systems and sales pipeline management tools.
  • Strong presentation and communication skills.

Highly Regarded Experience

Experience within one or more of the following sectors will be highly regarded:
