FIELD OPERATOR

Position Title

Field Operator / Field Engineer – SCGT Plant

Shift In-Charge / CRO (functionally)

Role Objective

To execute and monitor field-level operation of equipment and auxiliaries, ensuring safe, reliable plant operation and supporting the CRO during all operational activities.

Key Responsibilities

A. Field Equipment Operation

  • Operate and monitor:
    • Pumps, compressors, valves
    • Cooling water systems
    • Lube oil systems
    • Air intake & filtration systems
  • Perform:
    • Local start/stop of equipment

B. Fuel System Handling (Critical for Dual Fuel)

  • Monitor:
    • Gas pressure & filtration systems
    • HSD storage, transfer, and forwarding systems
  • Operate:
    • Fuel pumps, heaters, strainers
  • Ensure:
    • No leakage / contamination
  • Assist in fuel changeover operations

C. GT Auxiliary Systems

  • Check:
    • Lube oil levels, pressures, temperatures
    • Vibration & abnormal noise
  • Inspect:
    • Hydraulic systems
    • Cooling systems

D. Patrol & Inspection

  • Conduct:
    • Routine plant rounds
  • Identify:
    • Leakages (oil, gas, water)
    • Abnormal vibrations / temperatures
  • Report deviations immediately to CRO

E. Maintenance Support

  • Assist maintenance team during:
    • Shutdowns
    • Breakdown maintenance
  • Ensure proper isolation (LOTO) before maintenance

F. Safety & Compliance

  • Follow:
    • Permit to Work (PTW)
    • LOTO procedures
  • Ensure:
    • Fire safety readiness (especially fuel systems)
  • Handle:
    • Emergency situations (fire, leaks)

G. Housekeeping

  • Maintain:
    • Clean and safe plant conditions
  • Ensure:
    • No oil spills / hazards

Key Systems Handled

  • Pumps, compressors, valves
  • Fuel oil systems (HSD tanks, pumps)
  • Gas skid systems
  • Cooling water & lube oil systems

Qualifications

  • ITI / Diploma (Mechanical / Electrical)

Experience

  • 3–8 years in power plant operations
  • Experience in fuel oil handling preferred

  • Equipment handling
  • Field troubleshooting
  • Safety awareness
  • Communication with CRO

  • Equipment availability (field level)
  • Timely reporting of abnormalities
  • Safety compliance (zero incidents)
  • Quality of inspection rounds
