Location: Gabon (On-Site)

Salary: Up to USD 10,000/month + Company Accommodation (Self) + Food + Transportation

Roster: 4 months on-site, 3 weeks off

Language: French proficiency is a strong advantage

About the Role

We are seeking a seasoned Chief Operating Officer (COO) with proven leadership in the mining industry, specifically in minerals and metals (gold and precious stones), to lead and manage full-cycle operations in Gabon. This is a hands-on operational leadership role with oversight from ground-level operations to department heads, ensuring alignment with strategic, safety, environmental, and financial goals.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee end-to-end mining operations, including drilling, boring, deposit analysis, geological surveys, and production planning.
  • Lead and manage cross-functional departments: operations, geology, manpower, security, hedging, and compliance.
  • Implement effective resource planning, ensuring maximum productivity with minimal downtime.
  • Collaborate with the Board and CEO on strategic planning, risk management, and project execution.
  • Monitor and drive HSE (Health, Safety, and Environment) standards across all operational areas.
  • Optimize manpower deployment and ensure on-ground challenges are proactively addressed.
  • Supervise drilling & boring operations, ensuring they meet production and safety standards.
  • Guide and support the geology team in resource estimation and exploration initiatives.
  • Oversee the security infrastructure of the mine site and implement best practices in hedging operations.
  • Build and mentor a high-performance team and instill a results-driven culture.

Requirements

  • 18+ years of progressive experience in mining operations, including significant exposure to precious metals/minerals.
  • Proven track record in managing complex operations from ground to boardroom level.
  • Strong knowledge of drilling techniques, geological data, resource estimation, and hedging practices.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead large, diverse teams and drive performance in remote locations.
  • French language proficiency is highly desirable due to regional communication needs.
  • Excellent problem-solving, decision-making, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Experience working in African or similar international environments is a strong advantage.
