Senior System Architect

Job Title - Senior System Architect 

Our client is building a modern cross-border payments and financial infrastructure platform (exchange, clearing, messaging, digital currency) for banks and financial institutions. We are looking for a Senior System Architect (part-time) to define and evolve the overall architecture of our platform.

Profile summary

* 10+ years of experience in software engineering, with several years in system or solution architecture roles
* Strong background in designing distributed, event-driven, and microservices-based systems
* Solid understanding of Java-based back-end stacks (Spring/Spring Boot), APIs, and integrations
* Experience designing high-availability, high-throughput systems for mission-critical or financial use cases
* Strong knowledge of database and storage design (relational, NoSQL, caching)
* Comfortable working with modern cloud environments (AWS/Azure/GCP), networking, and security design
* Experience with observability, resiliency patterns, and capacity planning
* Ability to create clear architectural documentation, diagrams, and guidelines for engineering teams
* Used to collaborating with product, engineering, and DevOps to balance pragmatism vs. long-term scalability
* Bonus: experience in payments, FX, cross-border transfers, ISO 20022/SWIFT, or regulated financial environments

Engagement

* Part-time role (flexible workload, for example 2–3 days per week or equivalent), focusing on architectural design, reviews, and mentoring

Languages and location

* Fluent English is a must (written and spoken)
* Location: strong preference for UAE, Dubai, with flexibility for remote candidates who are highly qualified
