The Opportunity

As a Senior Tax Manager / Principal, you will play a critical role in supporting our next phase of growth. This is a senior leadership position offering exposure to a broad client base, complex tax matters, and the opportunity to mentor and develop staff within a public practice environment.

Key Responsibilities

Tax Compliance & Advisory

  • Prepare, review, and file federal, state, and local tax filings, including annual returns, extensions, and informational returns
  • Review tax returns for individuals and entities (Forms 1040, 1041, 1065, 1120, and 1120S) for accuracy and completeness
  • Prepare and consolidate tax provision schedules and related workpapers
  • Research and recommend tax strategies relating to federal, state, and local taxation matters
  • Monitor and interpret legislative and regulatory changes, implementing updates as required
  • Prepare and record book-to-tax adjusting entries

Client & Firm Support

  • Act as a key liaison with clients and external vendors
  • Maintain compliance by coordinating filings with relevant tax authorities
  • Identify tax efficiencies and profitability considerations for mergers, acquisitions, and restructurings
  • Coordinate and maintain accurate records for both firm and client engagements
  • Ensure confidentiality and adherence to professional and legal standards

Leadership & Process Improvement

  • Review work prepared by staff and provide guidance on tax returns and supporting documentation
  • Provide regular feedback and coaching to direct reports
  • Ensure consistency in workpaper formatting, naming conventions, and documentation standards
  • Develop, streamline, and improve tax procedures, templates, and internal workflows
  • Support firm-wide initiatives and collaborate with affiliates and other departments

Professional Development

  • Stay current through continuing education, professional publications, and industry involvement
  • Participate in professional organizations and maintain strong industry networks

About You

  • Bachelors degree in Accounting
  • Active CPA required (EA also considered)
  • 8+ years of experience in tax compliance and review within public accounting
  • Strong experience with Thomson Reuters tax software, including:

    • UltraTax
    • Workpapers CS
    • SurePrep
    • SafeSend
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and technical skills
  • High attention to detail and commitment to accuracy
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook)
  • Confident communicator with leadership presence and client-facing experience
