As our Senior Accountant, you will be at the heart of our numbers game! From keeping our financial reporting on point to ensuring compliance with various acts and regulations, you'll be the go-to expert for maintaining financial integrity across our organization. Your day might include mastering cash flows, managing monthly working papers, analyzing departmental variances, and dazzling auditors with meticulously prepared documentation.

HOW DO WE WORK?

Offering the best solutions is highly dependent on the management of risk and compliance within our industry. This role will be a key contributor with the ability to manage and analyze risk. We value a productive, proactive, and fast-paced office environment.

HOW DO YOU FIT IN?

The successful individual will have the following experience, education, and ability to develop these demonstrated skills:

  • Bachelors degree in Accounting BBA or similar
  • Working towards an accounting designation
  • Minimum two years of industry experience or accounting related experience
  • High degree of analytical and critical analysis skills
  • Experience with a small business accounting system such as QuickBooks would be considered an asset
  • Experience with corporate banking systems and electronic fund transactions would be considered an asset

WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING

Financial Reporting 75%

  • Complete the daily, monthly, quarterly and annual accounting
  • Complete weekly Cash Management
  • Complete monthly and quarterly GST and Tax reporting and filing
  • Complete monthly departmental variance analysis and disbursement to depts.
  • Complete monthly ASC reporting requirements.
  • Prepare month end schedules/ reconciliations and TMO related reporting as per allocation schedule
  • Management and accounting of subsidiary, Percent Equity LP.
  • Assist with preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
  • Assisting with the external financial audit and providing necessary documentation
  • Other ad hoc financial reporting

Compliance 15%

  • Comply with regulations including but not limited to Real Estate Act, Privacy Act, Securities Act, Business Corporations Act Fair Trading Act, etc.;
  • Compliance with IFRS in our reporting
  • Assist in maintaining internal controls
  • Adhere to corporate policy
  • Assist in accounting and reporting for other CHMIC related companies (Charitable Foundation of the Family, Percent Equity LP and Simplicity Asset Management)

General Administrative Activities 10%

  • Assist in the development of accounting processes and procedures
  • Work with peers and other departments
  • Assist and coordinate group activity
