Fleet Maintenance Supervisor - Waste Management Vehicles (GEMS)

Job Description:

Supervise Day-to- Day Maintenance Operations:

• Oversee daily maintenance and repair activities, ensuring efficient workflow and timely completion of tasks.
• Assign tasks to mechanics/technicians based on their skills and workload.
• Inspect completed work to ensure quality and adherence to standards.
• Troubleshoot complex mechanical issues and provide technical guidance to the team.
• Manage preventative maintenance schedules and ensure timely completion.

Team Leadership and Development:

• Lead, motivate, and mentor a team of mechanics/technicians.
• Conduct performance reviews, provide feedback, and identify training needs.
• Ensure a positive and productive work environment.
• Enforce company policies and procedures.

Maintenance Scheduling and Planning:

• Develop and manage maintenance schedules to minimize vehicle downtime.
• Prioritize work orders based on urgency and importance.
• Coordinate with other departments to schedule vehicle availability for maintenance.

Parts and Inventory Management:

• Oversee the ordering and receiving of parts and supplies.
• Maintain accurate inventory records.
• Ensure proper storage and handling of parts and materials.

Cost Control:

• Monitor maintenance costs and identify opportunities for cost savings.
• Ensure efficient use of resources and minimize waste.
• Track maintenance expenses and report on budget performance.

Safety and Compliance:

• Enforce safety regulations and procedures to maintain a safe working environment.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant environmental regulations and industry standards.
• Conduct regular safety inspections and address any safety concerns.

Record Keeping and Reporting:

• Maintain accurate maintenance records, including work orders, inspection reports, and vehicle history.
• Prepare and submit regular reports to the Fleet Maintenance Manager on maintenance activities, costs, and performance metrics.
