About the job Cook 3
The primary purpose of the position is to act as an ambassador for the kitchen, representing all Outlets and Canad Inns. The Cook 3 (Buffet Attendant/Prep Cook) serves the public with a professional, friendly and upbeat attitude. The Cook 3 (Buffet Attendant/Prep Cook) monitors and maintains the hot and cold buffets, and will take the considerations and requests of guests above all other duties. The Cook 3 may also be required to complete the responsibilities of the Kitchen Steward in the absence of one.
Important Notice: This position is located in Portage la Prairie, MB.
Responsibilities:
- Answer all guest inquiries regarding food choices.
- Anticipate and tend to all guest needs.
- Assist with the development of cost control systems to reduce waste in food, supplies, and labour.
- Assist the Cook as necessary.
- Ensure Hot Food is Hot & Cold Food is Cold.
- Cook omelets, sauté stations, prepare cold buffet, banquet salads, platters, prep, dish up food and prep where required.
- Wrap, label and date all food.

Qualifications:
- Able to work days, evenings and/or weekends.
- Can acquire Criminal Background Check and Food Handler & WHMIS certificates.
- Detail-oriented.
- Multi-tasks efficiently.
- Organized, accurate and reliable.
- Prioritizes and works efficiently with limited supervision.
- Professional attitude and expectations.
- Lift, balance and carry trays of up to 20 lbs during your shift.
