About the job Mechanist II
Job Responsibilities:
- Set up and operate various type of machines such as CNC Lathe, Laser Cutting machines, and Surface Grinders to produce precision components.
- Interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and work instructions to determine machine setup and part specifications.
- Interpret and execute written instructions from process travelers, routers and work instructions.
- Perform tool changes, offsets, and adjustments to maintain tight tolerances.
- Use micrometers, calipers, height gauges, and other inspection tools to measure and verify part accuracy.
- Conduct in-process inspections and make necessary adjustments to ensure conformance to specifications.
- Identify and report non-conforming parts and suggest corrective actions.
- Perform basic maintenance on assigned machines, including cleaning, lubrication, and minor repairs.
- Troubleshoot machine issues and escalate to maintenance or engineering when needed.
- Complete production logs, inspection records, and maintenance checklists accurately and in a timely manner.
- Follow standard operating procedures (SOPs) and safety protocol.
- Report any safety or maintenance concerns to supervisor and/or management immediately.
- Keep all work areas clean and organized.
- Hold self to a high standard of quality and workmanship.
Job Requirements:
- High school diploma or technical/vocational training in machining or manufacturing preferred.
- 5 years and above of experience operating CNC Lathe / Laser equipment / Surface Grinder in a precision manufacturing environment.
- Strong knowledge of machining principles, materials, and tool selection.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and GD&T symbols.
- Familiar with CNC programming (G-code knowledge is a plus).
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality and safety.
- Able to work in shift.
