Job Description:
Position Overview
The Project Manager leads and oversees multiple fast-paced mechanical construction projects from planning through completion. This role is responsible for estimating, budgeting, scheduling, and coordinating with internal and external teams to ensure projects are delivered safely, on time, and within budget. The Project Manager also supports business development initiatives and mentors Project Engineers within the Special Projects Group.
Key Responsibilities
- Take ownership of project estimates, scope development, proposals, safety planning, and execution
- Ensure projects meet or exceed profitability goals
- Apply mechanical systems knowledge to support cost analysis and value engineering
- Collaborate with engineering teams to ensure designs are complete, clearly defined, and aligned with project budgets
- Build and maintain strong client relationships
- Review team-prepared estimates and establish project budgets
- Estimate and negotiate changes to project scope and costs
- Monitor and report labor hours and material expenses
- Coordinate procurement and delivery of major equipment and subcontracted services
- Maintain thorough knowledge of project contracts, scope, and specifications
- Ensure documentation is organized and compliant with company and contractual standards
- Partner with field supervisors to plan and schedule project activities
- Promote and enforce jobsite safety in alignment with company standards
- Communicate proactively and clearly with internal and external stakeholders
- Uphold company values and maintain professionalism
- Maintain consistent and punctual attendance as an essential function of the role
Qualifications
Required Skills & Abilities
- Ability to accurately estimate mechanical construction work
- Strong leadership and team-building skills
- Clear understanding of mechanical systems and ability to communicate technical concepts
- Excellent organizational and time management abilities
- High attention to detail to prevent costly errors
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Self-motivated and results-oriented
- Ability to effectively manage multiple tasks and priorities
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Project, and OneDrive
Supervisory Responsibilities
- Mentor and supervise Project Engineers on the Special Projects team
Preferred Education & Experience
- Minimum of one year of experience as a Project Manager or three years as a Project Engineer
- Degree in Construction Management, Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a related field
- Basic knowledge of HVAC and plumbing systems
Required Licensing & Certifications
- Valid driver’s license with a satisfactory driving record
