Position Overview
CarverBeth is seeking highly motivated and technically skilled Network Operations Center (NOC) Technicians / Network Controllers to support mission-critical Department of Defense (DoD) networks. This role provides real-time operational support, fault management, and network restoration across global enterprise environments, including the Defense Information Systems Network (DISN).
As part of CarverBeth's elite operations team, you will play a critical role in maintaining global network availability, supporting mission partners, and ensuring rapid resolution of network incidents across multiple theaters. A significant part of this effort will include circuit migrations off legacy systems Cisco 15454 and Sycamore SN9K to modernized MPLS and Transport equipment.
Primary Responsibilities
- Create, update, and manage incident tickets using IT Service Management (ITSM) tools
- Monitor network events and system performance across multiple platforms in a 24x7x365 environment
- Perform incident correlation and fault analysis, including alarm filtering, root cause identification, and impact assessment
- Isolate and troubleshoot network faults across systems, hardware, software, circuits, and facilities
- Coordinate with internal teams and external service providers to resolve incidents and restore services
- Provide real-time situational awareness and notifications to leadership and mission partners
- Execute network/service restoration activities, including rerouting and normalization of services during outages or degradations
- Track and document incidents, reroutes, and resolutions within configuration management databases (CMDB)
- Support Tier 1 / Tier 2 operations for outages, service degradation, and incident response
- Escalate incidents appropriately and provide detailed status reporting and communication
- Collaborate with shift leads and Operations & Maintenance (O&M) leadership for guidance and execution
- Contribute to training, SOP development, and continuous process improvement within the NOC
- Provide technical expertise and guidance to peers and customers for complex network issues
- Operate and troubleshoot across DISN technologies including:
- Routers, switches, and crypto devices
- Optical transport (DWDM, MSPP, Optical Switching)
- Vendor platforms (Cisco, Juniper, Promina, etc.)
- DSN/DRSN and video services
Basic Qualifications
- Active DoD 8570 IAT Level II Certification (Security+ CE or equivalent) at start date
- Ability to work in a 24/7 shift-based operational environment
- Experience in one or more of the following:
- Alarm surveillance
- Fault management
- LAN maintenance
- Performance monitoring
- Hands-on expertise in three or more of the following:
- Routers, switches, crypto devices
- Cisco / Juniper platforms
- Optical transport (DWDM, MSPP)
- DSN/DRSN or video services
- Strong understanding of IP and transport network topologies
- Active Secret clearance with the ability to obtain and maintain Top Secret
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in Tech Control Facility or Cyber Transport Operations
- Familiarity with circuit provisioning, vendor coordination, and telecom operations
- Knowledge of IP architecture and enterprise network design
- Background in Telco NOC, OSP/ISP (Outside/Inside Plant) environments
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Teams)
- Experience with:
- Change management processes
- Advanced fault and performance monitoring tools
- Additional certifications highly desired:
- CCNA / CCNP / CCIE
- CySA+, CASP+
- JNCIA / JNCIE
- ITIL v4
- SolarWinds Certified Professional
- F5 Certified Specialist
- Citrix (CCA-N / CCA-V)
