Senior VAT Accountant

Key Responsibilities:

• Collaborate closely with management on technical VAT matters, including supporting the development and refinement of internal processes
• Supervise and review VAT compliance work prepared by junior team members across a varied client portfolio
• Manage complex VAT issues such as advisory engagements, cross-border considerations, industry-specific treatments, and interpretation of legislative updates
• Review VAT returns, recapitulative statements, and other related filings
• Support clients with VAT registrations, deregistrations, and ongoing compliance obligations
• Communicate with tax authorities regarding compliance matters, audits, inquiries, and investigations
• Participate in client meetings to discuss VAT positions, compliance requirements, and provide expert guidance

Candidate Profile:

• Fully qualified accountant
• At least two years of hands-on experience in VAT or indirect tax
• Holds a recognized professional qualification in taxation
• Strong understanding of VAT regulations, particularly within Maltese and EU frameworks
• Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
• Excellent command of written and spoken English
