The Role

The selected candidate will lead a high-performing team responsible for overseeing compliance across the Group's regulated entities, supporting an international client base spanning multiple industries as well as private clients. This role is well-suited for an experienced professional within the sector who is looking to take on a leadership position and drive impactful compliance initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure full compliance with all applicable Maltese laws and regulations, including CSP and Trust frameworks, while supporting broader regulatory functions across the Group.
  • Develop, implement, and continuously refine internal policies and procedures in line with regulatory requirements and industry best practices.
  • Monitor business activities to identify potential compliance risks, conduct regular risk assessments, and present findings through quarterly reports to the Board.
  • Deliver training and guidance to employees to strengthen awareness and adherence to compliance obligations.
  • Work cross-functionally to identify, assess, and mitigate risks related to non-compliance.
  • Conduct internal audits and investigations, collaborating with external auditors and regulatory authorities where necessary.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for Maltese regulatory bodies, ensuring timely and accurate communication and documentation.
  • Provide clear, practical advice to employees on regulatory and compliance matters, including the interpretation of complex requirements.
  • Foster a strong culture of ethics, integrity, and accountability across the organisation.
  • Identify and implement process improvements to enhance the effectiveness of the compliance framework.
  • Manage and evaluate team performance, providing ongoing feedback and development support.

Requirements

  • Strong understanding of Corporate and Trust services regulations and industry standards.
  • Solid working knowledge of the Maltese regulatory environment.
  • Deep expertise in AML, due diligence, and related compliance functions.
  • Excellent communication skills in English, both written and verbal.
  • Proficiency in MS Office tools (Excel, Word, Outlook).
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet strict regulatory deadlines.
  • Capable of working independently while contributing effectively within a team.
  • Strong attention to detail and analytical thinking skills.
  • Confident decision-maker with sound judgment.
  • Proven leadership and people management experience.
  • Effective problem-solving abilities with a proactive, solutions-oriented mindset.
  • Ability to think critically and approach challenges creatively.
