We are looking for a detail-driven and compliance-focused Payroll Specialist to serve as the in-country payroll lead for Thailand. In this critical role, you will own the end-to-end payroll lifecycle, ensure strict statutory compliance, and lead a local payroll team. Working closely with the Regional Payroll Manager, you will drive governance, align local operations with regional standards, and champion continuous process improvement. You will also act as the primary point of contact for all Thailand payroll matters, ensuring seamless service delivery and stakeholder satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead day-to-day payroll operations in Thailand, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and completeness
- Review payroll outputs, reconciliations, and management reports prior to submission and payment
- Ensure all payroll processes consistently meet established SLAs and quality benchmarks
- Maintain comprehensive documentation of payroll workflows, internal controls, and standard operating procedures
- Ensure full compliance with Thai labor laws, personal income tax regulations, Social Security, Provident Fund, and other statutory requirements
- Monitor legislative updates and implement timely payroll adjustments or system configurations
- Conduct regular payroll audits, risk assessments, and corrective action planning
- Liaise with external vendors, government agencies, tax authorities, and external auditors as required
- Supervise, coach, and develop the local payroll team to drive performance, accountability, and continuous skill growth
- Serve as the primary escalation point and key contact for Thailand payroll inquiries from employees, HR, Finance, and senior leadership
- Prepare and present payroll KPIs, dashboards, and exception reports for regional leadership review
- Identify opportunities to automate, streamline, and standardize payroll workflows
- Champion data security, confidentiality, and continuous improvement across the payroll function
Qualifications & Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field
- Minimum 5–7 years of progressive payroll experience, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or assistant manager capacity
- In-depth knowledge of Thailand payroll regulations, tax withholding, social security, provident fund, and labor compliance
- Proven track record managing end-to-end payroll cycles for mid-to-large employee populations
- Hands-on experience with payroll/HRIS platforms (e.g., SAP, Workday, ADP, Oracle, or local Thai payroll systems) and advanced Excel proficiency
- Strong analytical mindset with the ability to troubleshoot discrepancies, manage audits, and meet strict deadlines
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
- Fluent in English and Thai (written and spoken)
