Job Summary:
The Payroll Specialist is responsible for managing and processing payroll accurately and on time for all employees. This role ensures compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, maintains payroll records, and provides support for audits and reporting. The ideal candidate will have strong attention to detail, excellent organizational skills, and a solid understanding of payroll systems and tax regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Process bi-weekly or monthly payroll for all employees, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
- Maintain and update employee payroll records, including deductions, benefits, and tax withholdings.
- Verify timekeeping data and resolve discrepancies.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll laws and regulations.
- Prepare and submit payroll-related reports (e.g., tax filings, wage reports).
- Respond to employee inquiries regarding payroll, deductions, and benefits.
- Collaborate with HR and Finance teams on payroll-related matters.
- Assist with audits and provide necessary documentation.
- Stay updated on changes in payroll regulations and best practices.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field.
- Experience: 2+ years of payroll processing experience preferred.
- Skills:
- Proficiency in payroll software (e.g., ADP, Paychex, QuickBooks).
- Strong knowledge of payroll regulations and tax compliance.
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to handle confidential information with integrity.
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
