Job Summary: 
We are seeking a hands-on Bookkeeper / Controller to build and manage its accounting and financial infrastructure. This role is responsible for establishing GAAP-compliant systems, producing accurate financials, implementing internal controls, and maintaining audit‑ready records to support growth and future exit planning.

Primary Responsibilities

Accounting & Bookkeeping

  • Build and maintain the general ledger
  • Manage AR, AP, payroll, and all bank/credit card reconciliations
  • Complete month-end and year-end close
  • Prepare journal entries, accruals, adjustments, and fixed asset schedules

Financial Reporting

  • Produce monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
  • Maintain accuracy and consistency across reporting periods
  • Prepare management reports and support budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow planning

Audit & Compliance

  • Maintain organized, audit-ready documentation
  • Coordinate with external CPAs, auditors, and tax professionals
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations

Internal Controls & Systems

  • Implement internal controls and accounting policies
  • Build approval workflows for expenses and payments
  • Manage accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks Online)

Cash Management

  • Monitor cash flow and working capital
  • Manage vendor payments and payroll processes
  • Provide financial insights to support operational decisions

Exit & Due Diligence Preparation

  • Maintain defensible, transparent financial records
  • Prepare financial packages for investors, lenders, or potential buyers
  • Support due diligence during financing or exit events

Qualifications

Required

  • 5+ years of progressive accounting experience
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting
  • Experience setting up or cleaning up accounting systems
  • Proven ability to maintain audit-ready financials
  • Proficiency with accounting software (QuickBooks Online or similar)
  • Strong Excel skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to operate independently and own the accounting function
