Senior Litigation Paralegal (Defense)

Location: Parsippany, NJ (100% Onsite)

Employment Type: Full-Time, Direct Hire

Compensation: $60,000+ (Commensurate with Experience)

About the Role

We are seeking a high-level, independent Litigation Paralegal with at least 5 years of experience to join our defense-oriented practice in Parsippany. This is not a clerical position; we are looking for a "case manager" mindset—someone who anticipates the next step in the litigation lifecycle and can independently move a file from inception through discovery and motion practice.

Key Responsibilities

• Independent Drafting: Draft complex pleadings, including complaints, answers, and various motions.
• Discovery Management: Manage the full discovery process, including drafting requests/responses and conducting thorough background reviews.
• Narrative Billing: Execute meticulous time-entry and billing. You must be adept at "crafting the narrative"—describing tasks in a way that demonstrates value to insurance carriers and corporate clients.
• Case Management: Act as the primary point of contact for case deadlines, maintaining attorney calendars, and organizing high-volume document productions.
• Collaboration: Work closely with a team of attorneys while maintaining the autonomy to think critically and work independently.

Required Qualifications

• Experience: 5+ years of litigation experience (Defense/Insurance Defense background preferred).
• Technical Skills: Mastery of the MS Office Suite and legal billing software.
• Drafting Prowess: Ability to draft substantive legal documents with minimal oversight.
• Personal Injury: Experience in Personal Injury will be considered only if the experience is on the Defense side.

Mandatory Criteria (Deal Breakers)

• Experience must be in Defense Litigation.
• We are not currently accepting candidates with primary experience in Plaintiff work, Family Law, Real Estate, or Employment Law.
• Must be able to work 100% onsite in our Parsippany office.
