Senior DeltaV Engineer

We are seeking a Senior DeltaV Engineer to lead the design, implementation, and project management of large-scale automation projects within the Life Sciences industry.

This role requires deep expertise with Emerson DeltaV distributed control systems and the ability to deliver cGMP-compliant automation solutions for biopharmaceutical and medical device manufacturing.

The ideal candidate will have a proven track record managing complete project lifecycles—from system design through commissioning and validation—while ensuring regulatory compliance and operational efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

Design and implement Emerson DeltaV control systems for complex Life Sciences capital projects
Develop and manage project schedules, budgets, and engineering resources
Lead system architecture design and control strategies to improve manufacturing performance
Design batch sequencing, phase logic, and recipe structures using ISA-88 standards
Develop DeltaV operator interfaces using DeltaV Live and DeltaV Operate aligned with ISA-101 HMI guidelines
Implement class-based automation architecture to ensure scalable system design
Design electrical systems including panel layouts, power distribution, and grounding strategies
Specify and integrate instrumentation and hardware components
Implement industrial networking solutions including Ethernet/IP, Modbus TCP/IP, Profibus, and Foundation Fieldbus
Integrate third-party equipment using OPC UA and industrial communication protocols
Define computing infrastructure including server architecture, virtualization, and cybersecurity planning
Manage the full project lifecycle from requirements gathering to commissioning and validation
Lead Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) and Site Acceptance Testing (SAT)
Ensure compliance with GAMP5, cGMP, and 21 CFR Part 11 regulatory standards
Provide technical leadership and mentorship to engineering teams
Support client engagements and regulatory compliance activities
Travel up to 25% for commissioning and on-site support

Required Qualifications

Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering, Control Systems Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or related field
8–15 years of automation and control systems engineering experience within the Life Sciences industry
Extensive hands-on experience with Emerson DeltaV system design, configuration, and implementation
Proficiency with DeltaV Live and DeltaV Operate
Strong expertise in ISA-88 batch processing standards
Strong expertise in ISA-101 HMI design and high-performance graphics
Deep understanding of GAMP5, cGMP, and 21 CFR Part 11 compliance frameworks
Proven experience managing large capital automation projects
Strong leadership and cross-functional communication skills
Demonstrated ability to lead projects from design through commissioning and validation

Technical Expertise

Candidates should have experience with:

Emerson DeltaV control systems
ISA-88 batch processing architecture
ISA-101 high-performance HMI design
Industrial communication protocols (OPC UA, Modbus TCP/IP, Ethernet/IP, Profibus, Foundation Fieldbus)
Industrial networking infrastructure
Server architecture and virtualization technologies
Electrical design including MCCs, VFDs, and control panels
Automation system integration in regulated Life Sciences environments

Experience with the following technologies is a plus:

Rockwell Automation
Inductive Automation Ignition
Siemens PCS7
Other DCS/SCADA platforms

Work Environment

This role operates within a professional engineering office environment with occasional work in regulated manufacturing facilities.

Work may involve:

Commissioning activities in production facilities
Occasional lifting, climbing, and equipment inspection
Extended hours during project deadlines or commissioning phases
