Salary Range: $45,636 $85,955/year

ABOUT

Paul Cuffee School, a K12 public charter school in Providence, RI, is seeking a passionate and skilled Literacy Instructional Coach to join its team.

In alignment with the schools mission to nurture personal initiative, perseverance, and social responsibility, the Literacy Coach will strengthen teaching practices in reading instruction using High-Quality Curriculum Materials, Common Core Standards, and data-informed strategies. This role is non-evaluative and focuses on coaching, modeling, and collaborative professional learning.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Instructional Support

  • Maintain a caseload of 35 coachees through 6-week coaching cycles
  • Lead student-centered coaching using the Student-Centered Coaching model
  • Model effective instruction, small group work, and curriculum-aligned lesson planning
  • Provide classroom-based support through modeling, co-teaching, and observation
  • Deliver feedback and support grounded in research, standards, and data

Collaborative Practices

  • Facilitate collaborative learning and PLC meetings with grade-level teams
  • Support schoolwide literacy systems in partnership with school leaders and the Teaching & Learning Team
  • Participate in the District Literacy Team
  • Plan and document coaching sessions, goals, and progress
  • Build trust and foster a culture of continuous improvement

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Rhode Island certification in Elementary Education (required)
  • RI Reading Specialist certification (preferred)
  • At least 5 years of successful classroom teaching experience
  • Proficiency in the Science of Reading and experience with EL Education (preferred)
  • Skilled in adult learning and facilitation
