The role

Chelsea Peers is seeking an experienced Buying Manager to own our multi-category teams spanning Womenswear, Menswear, Kidswear, Swim, Beach, Accessories and Home. You will lead the team, manage a global supplier base, and take products from concept to customer, partnering closely with the Design team to create beautiful product while embedding sustainability into every stage of the product lifecycle to drive growth and profitability.

What you'll do

Product strategy & trading

  • Own, create and implement the product strategy to deliver revenue, margin, sell-through and stock KPIs, grounded in both customer insight and sustainability goals.
  • Build range architecture, option plans and category splits, using data to balance newness with proven winners.
  • Set the global pricing architecture; track competitors and respond to market conditions.

People leadership

  • Manage, coach and develop a high-performing team of seven; set clear objectives, foster collaboration and support career growth.

Range building, design partnership & cross-functional delivery

  • Co-create with Design to brief and develop beautiful, distinctive product considering silhouette, print, colour, trims and fabric hand-feel true to Chelsea Peers DNA and seasonal moments.
  • Align with e-commerce, marketing and operations on launch calendars, promotional cadence and peak trading (including supplier holidays).

Sustainability & responsible sourcing

  • Champion the sustainability roadmap across ranges: increase preferred materials (e.g., recycled/organic fibres), improve product durability, reduce packaging/virgin plastics, and enhance traceability.
  • Partner with suppliers to meet agreed certifications/standards and drive continuous improvements without compromising aesthetics or commerciality.
  • Identify and onboard new sourcing regions and suppliers; maintain robust supplier performance reviews.

Product Development

  • Own the end-to-end SMS (salesman samples) plan and delivery: create the sample calendar, allocate requirements by department, and track status to ensure on-time, in-full (OTIF) arrival.
  • Coordinate with Design, Technical, and suppliers so SMS reflect final specs/quality; manage quick-turn corrections where needed.
  • Ensure sample readiness for e-commerce shoots, PR/Influencer, Wholesale sell-in and key market appointments, including labelling, barcoding and logistics.

Supplier management & negotiation

  • Lead negotiations and close all orders with the global supply base, securing best-in-class costings, lead times, terms and MOQ flexibility.
  • Ensure capacity planning is in place and off-peak production windows are utilised.

Quality, fit & critical path

  • Own the critical path from concept to delivery, ensuring on-time launches (including SMS, PPS/TOP approvals).
  • Oversee all approvals and fit processes with the Senior Garment Technologist & team; drive corrective actions with factories to reduce returns and improve customer satisfaction.

Commercial reporting

  • Lead weekly trade: review performance, identify risks/opportunities, and present clear actions to the wider business.
  • Assign quantities for all seasonal buys in line with OTB, sell-through targets and stock-turn goals.

What you'll bring

  • Established multi-category own-bought buying experience, ideally across Womenswear, Menswear, Kidswear, Swim, Accessories and Home.
  • A refined product eye and proven ability to partner with Design to deliver beautiful, commercially successful ranges.
  • Genuine passion for driving sustainability through product strategy (materials, packaging, durability, certifications, and supplier improvement plans).
  • Proven experience managing SMS with strong OTIF performance.
  • Strong track record delivering change at pace and improving margin, lead times and sell-through.
  • Excellent negotiation, supplier management and stakeholder influence skills.
  • Highly data-literate: confident with option planning, pricing architecture, OTB/WSSI and trade analytics.
  • Clear, confident communicator; comfortable presenting to senior stakeholders.
  • Willingness to travel internationally to factories, trade shows and partners as required.
