The Role
Renfold Ltd home to Chelsea Peers and other lifestyle brands is seeking a Senior Garment Technologist to lead the full fit, quality, and compliance process across all categories, departments, and brands. From Womenswear and Menswear to Childrenswear, Nightwear, and Home, youll ensure every product looks and feels exceptional, meets compliance standards, and delivers consistency for our customers.
This senior role balances hands-on garment technology expertise with leadership and supplier management, working closely with Design, Buying, and E-com teams, while developing junior talent.
Key Responsibilities
Fit & Product Development
- Own the fit process across all Renfold brands and categories, ensuring accuracy, quality, and consistency.
- Lead fit sessions, managing model bookings, budgets, and follow-up fit comments (within 48 hours).
- Review and update block measurements, grading, and construction each season.
- Maintain and manage the company block library once styles are sealed.
- Partner with Buying & Design from sketch to final product, creating development measurement specifications.
Quality & Compliance
- Risk assess product quality and escalate issues where required.
- Oversee testing manuals and test reports across all categories, supporting the Junior Technologist in decision-making.
- Ensure washcare standards are accurate and compliant, liaising with Buying when needed.
- Manage the UK QC process, guiding junior team members and liaising with suppliers to resolve issues quickly.
- Monitor and analyse customer returns and quality issues, implementing corrective actions.
- Lead on compliance processes including chemical compliance, nightwear/childrenswear legislation, and certification (GOTS, Oeko-Tex).
- Keep the business up to date with any regulatory or industry changes.
Supplier & Factory Collaboration
- Liaise with global suppliers daily to resolve fit, measurement, and quality challenges.
- Review AQL reports, work with factories to address failures, and drive improved supplier hit rates.
- Build strong relationships with suppliers to enhance technical standards and prevent repeat issues.
Leadership & Team Development
- Manage and develop the team, providing guidance, training, and coaching.
- Upskill the product team in garment technology best practices.
- Own and update garment technology sections of the Renfold company manual.
- Partner with the E-com team to keep customer-facing sizing guides accurate and up to date.
Skills & Experience
- Deep understanding of garment construction, pattern cutting, and manufacturing.
- Strong multi-category experience: softs, wovens, denim essential; knit, nightwear, and loungewear highly advantageous.
- Experience across Womenswear, Menswear, Childrenswear (Home an advantage).
- Knowledge of global compliance (GOTS, Oeko-Tex) and safety standards (Nightwear, Childrenswear).
- Good understanding of both wholesale and direct-to-consumer critical paths.
- Strong time management skills with the ability to meet tight deadlines.
- Self-motivated with the ability to manage a high workload effectively.
- Experience managing international suppliers and navigating cultural differences.
- Highly organised with a methodical, solutions-focused approach.
- Strong leadership skills with experience mentoring and developing junior team members.
- Excellent cross-functional communication skills.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, growing, and evolving multi-brand environment.
