About the Opportunity

We are partnering with a well-established, multi-branch concrete sawing and specialty services company to identify a skilled Equipment Mechanic for its Dallas-area operations. This role is critical to supporting daily field operations by ensuring equipment is properly maintained, repaired, and operating at peak performance.

This search is focused on identifying a dependable, hands-on mechanic who brings consistency, organization, and accountability to equipment maintenance. The ideal candidate will work closely with field teams and leadership to reduce downtime, improve repair quality, and support overall operational efficiency in a fast-paced environment.

Position Overview

The Equipment Mechanic will support both shop and field operations, with a strong emphasis on diagnostics, repair quality, and follow-through. This individual will be responsible for maintaining a wide range of equipment including small tools, diesel and electric machinery, hydraulic systems, pumps, and generators.

This role is ideal for a well-rounded, jack-of-all-trades mechanic who takes ownership of their work, completes repairs thoroughly, and thrives in an environment where reliability and organization are key to success.

Key Responsibilities

  • Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical issues across a variety of equipment
  • Service and repair small tools, diesel and electric equipment, pumps, generators, and hydraulic systems
  • Work on and maintain specialized equipment such as concrete saws (electric and diesel), hydraulic cutting systems, and core drilling equipment
  • Repair and maintain support equipment including trailers, light-duty vehicles, and jobsite tools
  • Respond to field service calls and perform on-site repairs to minimize downtime
  • Perform preventative maintenance and assist in building more structured maintenance processes
  • Track and document repairs, maintenance history, and equipment status
  • Ensure all repairs are completed thoroughly and correctly the first time
  • Identify recurring equipment issues and communicate potential misuse or operational inefficiencies
  • Collaborate with field teams to ensure equipment readiness and reliability
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized shop and work environment

Required Qualifications

  • 3–7+ years of experience working as a mechanic on construction equipment, small tools, or similar machinery
  • Strong knowledge of hydraulics, small engines, diesel equipment, and electrical systems
  • Experience diagnosing and repairing pumps, generators, and field-based equipment
  • Hands-on experience working with equipment such as:
  • Small engine tools (cut-off saws, drills, handheld equipment)
  • Hydraulic systems and hoses
  • Diesel and electric-powered machinery
  • Pumps, generators, and jobsite power equipment
  • Ability to work independently and take ownership of repairs from start to finish
  • Comfortable working in both shop and field environments
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record
  • Ability to pass a background check and drug screening

Preferred Skills & Traits

  • Experience in equipment rental or high-volume repair environments (e.g., United Rentals, Sunbelt, etc.)
  • Experience working on specialty construction equipment such as sawing, drilling, or cutting systems
  • Strong organizational skills with a high level of attention to detail and follow-through
  • Reliable, accountable, and self-motivated
  • Jack-of-all-trades mechanical skillset across multiple equipment types
  • Ability to identify root causes of equipment failures, including potential operator misuse
  • Team-oriented with a strong work ethic and willingness to work extended hours or respond to urgent field needs
