We're seeking a strategic and experienced Director of Preconstruction to lead and elevate our estimating and early-phase project planning efforts across a diverse portfolio of commercial projects. Your Role
Lead, mentor, and grow a team of estimators responsible for conceptual budgeting, detailed takeoffs, bid execution, and subcontractor strategy.
Oversee all aspects of the preconstruction process, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and competitive positioning.
Coordinate the development of complete bid packages and responses to RFPs/RFQs for both public and private sector work.
Collaborate closely with executive leadership, project teams, and clients to shape early design decisions and support informed project planning.
Represent the company in client interviews and business development efforts as a trusted technical expert and communicator.
Maintain strong relationships with subcontractors and vendors to ensure coverage, pricing accuracy, and market insight.
Champion technology and process improvements in estimating, using tools such as Bluebeam, On-Screen Takeoff, Procore, and ConstructConnect.
What You Bring
10-15+ years of commercial construction experience, including substantial preconstruction leadership.
Proven ability to manage and inspire estimating teams while developing talent from within.
Expertise in multiple delivery methods, including hard bid, JOC, CMAR, and design- build.
Track record of success with commercial interiors, healthcare, k-12, and ground-up work.
Fluency in construction drawings, cost modeling, scope reviews, and value engineering strategies.
Confidence in presenting estimates and strategies to owners, design teams, and internal stakeholders.
Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or related field (or equivalent industry experience).
