Marketing Director (Architect)
Location: Atlanta, GA (On-Site, Full-Time, Relocation package for the right candidate)
Salary: $130,000–$150,000 DOE

We are conducting a confidential executive search on behalf of a fast-growing, privately held company in the home improvement retail and e-commerce sector.

Founded more than a decade ago, the company has evolved from a regional retailer into a factory-direct business with multiple retail locations and a rapidly expanding e-commerce presence. As the organization enters its next phase of growth, it is seeking a Marketing Director (Architect) — a self-directed leader who can own the marketing function, design scalable systems, and put their mark on a growing brand.

About You:

You are a marketing architect — someone who sees the full system before placing the first brick. You take ownership naturally, thrive with autonomy, and are excited by the opportunity to build something and leave your mark. You don't need step-by-step direction to be successful. You're comfortable setting the plan, pressure-testing ideas, and moving forward with confidence — while still being curious, coachable, and open to learning as the business grows. You bring both conviction and humility to your work. This role is ideal for someone who wants true ownership, not just a title.

The Role: Marketing Director (Architect)

This is a high-impact, player-coach role with full ownership of marketing across B2C and B2B channels brand, digital, e-commerce, retail, and sales enablement. You'll design and grow the marketing department, grow and manage a small internal team, oversee agency partners, and work cross-functionally to ensure marketing supports company-wide goals. This role is ideal for someone who wants to build the engine, not just run campaigns.

Key Responsibilities:

Strategy, Systems & Department Build

  • Own the marketing function end-to-end, from strategy through execution and optimization
  • Build and scale a modern marketing department, including team structure, processes, tools, and operating rhythm
  • Develop annual marketing plans, budgets, forecasts, and performance targets
  • Establish systems and workflows that support growth and cross-department alignment

Digital, AI & Performance Marketing

  • Lead digital strategy across website, SEO/AEO, SEM, paid social, and e-commerce
  • Drive conversion and growth across online channels (Shopify experience strongly preferred)
  • Leverage AI and marketing technology to enhance content creation, campaign optimization, targeting, reporting, and automation
  • Partner with developers and agencies on website improvements, UX, CRO, and platform enhancements

Cross-Functional Leadership & Buy-In

  • Collaborate closely with sales, operations, leadership, and retail teams to align marketing efforts
  • Translate marketing strategy into clear, actionable initiatives that support company-wide goals
  • Build trust and buy-in by communicating clearly, using data, and delivering measurable results

Team & Partner Management

  • Lead and develop internal team members while managing external agencies and vendors
  • Set clear expectations, evaluate performance, and optimize spend and partnerships
  • Ensure marketing investments are tied to ROI and business impact

Brand, Retail & Sales Enablement

  • Evolve and steward the brand across digital, retail, and B2B touchpoints
  • Support physical retail locations with in-store, point-of-sale, and experiential marketing
  • Create tools and assets that enable sales teams and dealer partners to tell a compelling story

Analytics & Continuous Improvement

  • Own marketing analytics, dashboards, and reporting
  • Use data and AI-driven insights to evaluate performance, identify opportunities, and continuously improve results
  • Confidently articulate campaign strategy, outcomes, and learnings to leadership

Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of marketing leadership experience
  • Proven experience building or scaling a marketing department from scratch
  • Strong background in digital marketing, e-commerce, and performance marketing
  • Hands-on experience with marketing technology, AI tools, and data-driven decision-making
  • Experience managing teams and external partners
  • Demonstrated ability to work cross-functionally and drive alignment
  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Business, Communications, or related field
  • Shopify experience strongly preferred
  • Local to Atlanta or willing to relocate
