Control Engineer

 

An exciting fresh opening for a Control Systems Engineer / Control and Motion Engineer / Motion Control Engineer with a leading multinational engineering company who currently design and develop futuristic factory automation products for covering various industries including Automotive, Scientific, Renewable Energy, Space, Medical, Food Processing and Consumer Products. 

 

Location: Milton Keynes & Home Based (flexible)

 

Salary: £35,000 - £47,000 - depending on experience, superb career and technical progression available, Bonus Scheme, Pension, Private Medical Insurance, 25 days holiday, sports and social club and subsidised canteen.

 

 

Duties and Responsibilities of the Control Systems Engineer / Control and Motion Engineer:

 

The Control Systems Engineer will have demonstrated the ability to work at a high level with minimal management. They will support their team to coach and mentor less experienced Engineers.

 

Project Management - Manage projects of significance, taking responsibility for their successful on time completion.

 

New Product Development - Working closely with Engineers in the company to develop new products meeting market specifications.   Arranging to produce prototypes, carry out performance and life tests and evaluate results.

 

Taking responsibility of larger and development projects ensuring timely completion

 

Setting-up and programming PLCs (SIEMENS, Beckhoff, Rockwell, OMRON, etc.) and Industrial Communication Protocols (Ethernet/IP, PROFINET, EtherCAT, etc.)   Carrying out testing of electrical/electronic/pneumatic products

  • Setting-up and programming motion controllers and motor drivers.
  • Be proactive in understanding the current and future trends and technologies within the automation industry (Industry 4.0, IO-Link, Wireless, Clouds, IIoT etc)
  • Lead or participate in any new activities as requested by the Technical Manager or the General Manager. 

 

 

Experience / Qualifications required – Control Engineer:

 

You will ideally have a degree BSc, BEng or MEng, MSc in Electronics / Electrical and Electronic Engineering / Control Systems Engineering / Software Engineering / Mechatronics / Instrumentation or similar subject.

 

 

Required:


·        Experience of planning and managing own projects.

·        Experience of providing technical leadership to engineers

·        Experience of writing technical reports and software documentation.

·        Ability to work as part of a multicultural team

·        Able to travel to European customers when required

·        Excellent spoken and written English

·        Must be a good “team player” and able to work in a “results by consensus culture”.

 

5+ years of work experience in at least 3 of the following:

·        Industrial communication protocols (PROFINET, Ethernet/IP, EtherCAT, etc.)

·        Configuring and programming PLCs

·        Configuring and programming motor drives

·        Linear, Rotary and gripping electrical motion applications

Desirable:

·        Electrical, Electronics, Software or Electromechanical Engineering degree 2:1 or better preferred.

·        Experience of working for a multinational company.

·        Experience of working with customers and suppliers.

·        European language skills.

·        Japanese language skills.

·        Technical training experience

·        Industry 4.0 and IIoT

·        Leadership skills
