Project Engineer

An exciting new opening with a modern high technology factory automation and metrology company in Nottingham looking to expand their team with a Project Engineer or Project Manager. They develop integrated solutions in the fields of Adaptive Robot Control, robotic inspection and dynamic tracking (including robot performance testing).  A Project Engineer is required to assist the expansion of the business. 

BENEFITS :   Salary 60K to 70K !!!!  Full Time - 4 day week - hybrid role 

• Company will provide Laptop, pay monthly Phone bills, and reasonable expenses will be re-imbursed.
• Car-hire provided or mileage reimbursed

• Normal working week. This is subject to change as we adapt to new working life post-pandemic. But the latest plan is, probably from September
  • 4 - day week
  • Core days Tuesday and Wednesday generally in the office
  • Most weeks, Monday, and Thursday work from home
  • Sometimes work is needed on a Friday, and then in the following week(s) a short week will be given to balance. The goal is to get the same productivity in 4 days, as in 5. If this doesnt work we will revert to a 5-day week.
  • Sometimes long hours/shifts/travel are required balance is always considered, but never taken for granted (either side)
  • This contract is based on hours worked normally up to 8 hrs a day
  • There is no guarantee of full weeks
  • Holidays / Pensions not included.

We are seeking the right person to develop this business, this is primarily a business management role (commercial and technical), within the context of an SME in high technology manufacturing (B2B.  The goal is to build business over 10 years.  Target headcount 15 -> 20 FTE staff.  Target Turnover £6.5m -> £10m p.a.

KEY AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY:

• Delivery of commercial projects, on-time, on-budget, to customer satisfaction.
  • Managing the team
  • Reporting for customers, and in-house (for invoicing / resource planning)
• Currently they have many different sized bids/ contracts, from £5k to > £3m. They want to focus in two prime areas
  • AIR (Automated Inspection and Reporting) this is for in-line inspection across many industries with parts >1m3 and inspection capability to 0.1 mm
  • ADI (Automated Drilling and Inspection) for high accuracy, low-energy aerostructure assembly
  • There are other fields that may come into this: -
    • Stand-alone robot guidance
    • Dynamic inspection
    • Digital manufacturing although that is most likely through supporting products (i.e., plug-ins to automate robot drilling OLPs) rather than sub-con services
• Support the company's increase in office automation / communications based on MS Office 365 (including Teams, Whiteboarding and One-Note)
  • Full training support given (its largely on-line, but the Team will help)
• Expect high level of customer facing activity (so out of the office many days a week)
• Commercial liaison with customers and suppliers 

QUALIFICATIONS:

Essential

Degree in Engineering

5-7 years experience in within an engineering company

Experience in running projects (Gantt charts / Budgets, ..) expected  

Proven experience with customer interaction.

Proficient in English and local language depending on the working area.

Driving license.

Use of all Microsoft office products.

Knowledge and experience of automation systems beneficial

Good presentation skills.
