We are currently seeking to fill the role of a Head of Primary School at an international school located in the vibrant city of Beijing. This is a full-time position starting in August 2025.

The school offers a combination of the national curriculum and the IB (International Baccalaureate) Philosophy to its students in elementary, middle and high school. This blend of curricula provides a strong foundation of subject knowledge and cultivates learning abilities and thinking skills.
Responsibilities
The International Head of Primary plays a key leadership role within the Senior Leadership Team, overseeing the daily operations and strategic development of the Primary division (KG5). This position combines administrative oversight with instructional leadership, focused on creating a nurturing and high-performing academic environment.
- Lead and manage the day-to-day operations of the Primary division, ensuring smooth implementation of policies, procedures, and academic programs.
- Guide the design, delivery, and evaluation of the Primary curriculum, with a focus on continual improvement in areas such as English and Science.
- Conduct professional development and performance appraisals for teaching staff, fostering a culture of growth, accountability, and excellence.
- Mentor and support teachers, address disciplinary or performance concerns, and oversee the induction of new staff.
- Advise on staffing, budgeting, and resource needs to support teaching and learning goals.
- Collaborate on recruitment efforts to ensure high-quality teaching staff align with international education standards.
- Monitor student progress, maintain accurate records, and support enrichment programs to enhance learning experiences.
- Promote strong academic outcomes through curriculum differentiation, inquiry-based learning, and cross-disciplinary integration.
- Supervise student safety and welfare during all school activities, including recess, lunch, and events.
- Develop and implement student support strategies, including admissions interviews, onboarding, and programs for students with additional learning needs.
- Maintain effective parent communication and engagement, including meetings, reports, and community events.
- Represent the school in professional forums and maintain positive relationships with both internal and external stakeholders.
- Support marketing and admissions efforts through open houses, events, and initiatives to increase student enrollment, especially in lower year groups.
Qualifications
- Masters degree or higher in Education or a related field
- Valid teaching certification
- At least 10 years of teaching experience, including a minimum of 3 years in a primary leadership role
- Demonstrated leadership in international or bilingual school environments
- Strong understanding of international curricula such as IB PYP, British, or American
- Proven experience in curriculum development, teacher mentoring, and managing academic teams
Compensation package
- Competitive annual salary commensurate with experience and qualifications
- Health insurance coverage up to RMB 40,000 per school year for the employee and their family members, with flexibility to choose from approved plans
- Flight reimbursement of up to RMB 30,000 per school year for the employee and one dependent
- Free on-campus accommodation provided; rent is covered by the school, while utilities and service charges are paid by the employee according to school standards
- Education allowance for up to two dependent children admitted to the school, covering application and tuition fees (uniforms, meals, and other expenses not included)
- One-time relocation reimbursement of RMB 2,000
- Free working-day meals provided on campus
