Housemaster

We are looking for a Housemaster for a bilingual school based in Shanghais Huangpu district. This is a full-time position starting in August 2025.

About the school

A bilingual school, which was founded five years ago, is situated in the middle of the Pudong and Huangpu district of Shanghai. It provides bilingual teaching to students from first grade to the 12th grade of elementary, middle and high school. The school follows the Chinese national curriculum and has elements from the British IGCSE and A levels curriculums to meet the academic needs of its students.

Job Responsibilities

• Provide pastoral care and ensure the wellbeing, safety, and personal development of students within the boarding house.
• Create a supportive, inclusive, and disciplined residential environment aligned with the schools values.
• Supervise daily routines, including wake-up, meals, study time, lights out, and weekend activities.
• Foster positive relationships with students, encouraging respect, responsibility, and independence.
• Work closely with parents, academic staff, and senior leadership to monitor student progress and address concerns.
• Maintain accurate records of student behavior, attendance, health issues, and incident reports.
• Organize and oversee enrichment and co-curricular activities that enhance residential life.
• Support the induction of new students, helping them adapt smoothly to boarding life.

Requirements

• Bachelors degree; education or child development-related fields preferred
• Minimum 2 years of pastoral experience in a school
• Experience working with Chinese and international students
• Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends
• Familiarity with child protection and safeguarding procedure
