An Engineering Technician is a professional with 0 - 3 years engineering experience.
This position will be responsible to work with a team of engineers for the design and
production of construction documents for building facilities of various uses and
construction materials, including replacement or rehabilitation for structures. This
position will also conduct inspections of existing building facilities, including report
preparation.

PRIMARY DUTIES:

  • Application of structural engineering and detailing techniques associated with the
    development of building design and rehabilitation plans.
  • Conducts analyses to develop design options or recommendations and assists in the preparation of cost estimates and specifications.
  • Performs routine engineering assignments requiring application of standard
    techniques and procedures.
  • Works independently on small assignments and assists Senior Engineers on
    projects.
  • Works closely with other disciplines on multi-discipline projects.
  • Additional duties include participating in building inspections as required.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS and ABILITIES:

  • Working understanding of AISC, IBC, ACI, and ASCE 7 design standards.
  • Proficient in AutoCAD and/or REVIT\
  • Proficiency in REVIT is a plus
  • Knowledge of structural analysis software such as STAAD Pro and Tekla Structures.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to multi-task, appropriately prioritize workflow and complete tasks on
    schedule and within budget.
  • Excellent time management skills. 

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE: 

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil Engineering with a from an accredited four-year college or university 

CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSES REQUIRED:

  • Engineer-in-Training certificate or ability to obtain within 6-months Valid Driver's License 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING ENVIRONMENT:

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by
an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. This job
operates in a professional office environment. The role routinely uses standard office
equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax. Work
requires frequent and prolonged computer use. The position requires the ability to sit,
stand, file, lift and carry files up to 25 pounds.
