About the job RF Technical Specialist

The RF Technical Specialist provides technical engineering support for IT&Es local and international RF operations and assists in preparing the engineering requirements for RF proposal development, as well as repair, install and maintain RF equipment; assists in the development of new and replacement RF equipment requirements; performs selected duties normally falling under the RF Division, as assigned by the RF Manager. This position will work under the guidance and general supervision of the RF Manager.

Responsibilities

The Employee will:

  • Monitor network performance for 5G NSA, LTE, and HSPA+ systems by performing test of systems by driving testing equipment to various sites; interpret data from wireless switches to evaluate network performance; determine and implement necessary corrective action.
  • Assist in the RF Engineering and optimizing.
  • Repair, install and maintain RF equipment
  • Inspect completed work to ensure all hardware is tight, antennas are level, hangers are properly fastened, proper support is in place, or adequate weather proofing has been installed.
  • Bolt equipment into place, using hand or power tools.
  • Test operation of tower transmission components, using sweep testing tools or software.
  • Run appropriate power, ground, fiber, or coaxial cables.
  • Assist in designing the optimization and lead performance related activities for clusters and the market
  • Work across IT&E deployment team to ensure deliverables are met throughout all stages of the project.
  • Work directly with contractors in dosing the antenna, azimuth, tilting and drive testing performances.
  • Assist in designing and building wireless sites and switch and wireless equipment upgrades; program switches for new wireless equipment being installed; pre-test all wireless products for network compatibility. Assist in the planning and performance of both software and hardware upgrades to the wireless switches.
  • Ensure equipment vendor/manufacturers performance standards are fully compliant with the required specifications, meeting both North American and international standards.
  • Assist in determining necessary wireless switching and other system upgrades to meet forecasted market demands.
  • Assist in providing design-engineering support to the development of wireless proposals.
  • Assist in keeping engineering records current.
  • Assist other engineers and in their areas of responsibility, as needed.
  • Ensure cellular towers and telecommunications equipment are monitored and maintained.
  • Assist the RF Division in product testing and evaluation, as necessary and as assigned by RF Manager.

Required Qualifications, Capabilities, And Skills

  • High school diploma required. Trade school, and/or equivalent additional work experience, desired.
  • Two years of progressive experience in the technical and/or engineering aspects of radio frequency technology or electronic technician-type work.

Preferred Qualifications, Capabilities, And Skills

  • Certification in Tower Climbing required.
  • Certification from the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) or vendor certification for wireless systems equipment installation and maintenance are desirable but not required.

The physical activity of this position includes climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, fingering, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, and repetitive motions.

Climbing towers of up to 260 feet is required.

The physical requirements of this position involve light work, exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally; up to 10 pounds of force frequently; a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects.

For visual acuity requirements including color, depth perception and field of vision, the worker is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; viewing a computer terminal; visual inspection involving small defects, small parts, and/or operation of machines; using measurement devices; and/or assembly or fabrication of parts at distances close to the eyes.

Working Conditions

In this role, the worker is subject to the following conditions: Inside environmental conditions and outside environmental conditions. Noise that may cause the worker to shout in order to be heard above the ambient noise level. Exposure to oscillating movements (vibration) of the extremities or whole body Subject to hazards, which includes a variety of work conditions such as proximity to moving mechanical parts, moving vehicles, electrical current, working on scaffolding and high places, exposure to high heat or exposure to chemicals. Required to function in narrow aisles or passageways. Required to climb towers of up to 260 feet.

About IT&E

Formerly Micronesian Telecommunications Corp, IT&E was a part of Verizon International. CITADEL acquired IT&E in 2005 after successfully navigating the US CIFUS process and the Federal Communications Commission.
