As an RF (Radio Frequency) Technician in the telecom industry, your responsibilities typically revolve around ensuring the proper functioning of wireless communication systems.

Responsibilities

The Employee will:

  • Commission, Integrate, Install, Operate, Repair and Maintains all wireless network equipment, power repeater/signal booster and Digital microwave radio systems.
  • Commission, Integrate, Install, Operate, Repair and maintain backhaul and transmission equipment and support facilities such as AC/DC power equipment and antenna system.
  • Plan, integrate, assemble, install, test, and maintain electrical or electronic wiring and equipment using hand tools and power tools and connect wires to circuit breakers, transformers, or other components.
  • Analyze and inspect electrical systems, equipment, and components to identify hazards, defects, and the need for adjustment or repair, and to ensure compliance with codes. Advise management on whether continued operation of equipment could be hazardous.
  • Manage trouble ticket, troubleshoot customer complaints and closing of tickets.
  • Perform trouble isolation and resolution, site acceptance testing and resolving alarm conditions.
  • Performs RF line-of-sight survey, signal strength, coverage throughput and optimization solution.
  • Oversee the spares level and manage the RMA for all defective telecoms equipment.
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation of work, spares and inventory of resources.
  • Aid other Department, vendors and contractor as needed, as directed by Supervisor.
  • Perform other related duties as required and directed.

Required Qualifications, Capabilities, And Skills

  • Bachelors degree from an accredited college or university in telecommunications or electrical engineering or related field, or a combination of technical training, either manufacturer or trade school, and equivalent additional work experience
  • Four years progressive experience in the wireless technical operations and/or engineering aspects of telecommunications.

Preferred Qualifications, Capabilities, And Skills

  • Strong background in Microwave radio installation and commissioning, particularly for Ericsson and Ceragon Radio.
  • Good analytical skills in interpreting transmission problems using remote network management system.
  • Knowledge relevant wireless technologies
  • Valid Drivers License - Chauffeur
  • Certification in Tower Climbing preferred at the time of hire, or willingness to be certified.

Physical Demands

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. The physical activity of this position includes climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, fingering, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, and repetitive motions.

Climbing towers of up to 260 feet is required.

The physical requirements of this position involve light work, exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally; up to 10 pounds of force frequently; a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects.

For visual acuity requirements including color, depth perception and field of vision, the worker is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; viewing a computer terminal; visual inspection involving small defects, small parts, and/or operation of machines; using measurement devices; and/or assembly or fabrication of parts at distances close to the eyes.

Working Conditions

In this role, the worker is subject to the following conditions: Inside environmental conditions and outside environmental conditions. Noise that may cause the worker to shout in order to be heard above the ambient noise level. Exposure to oscillating movements (vibration) of the extremities or whole body Subject to hazards, which includes a variety of work conditions such as proximity to moving mechanical parts, moving vehicles, electrical current, working on scaffolding and high places, exposure to high heat or exposure to chemicals. Required to function in narrow aisles or passageways. Required to climb towers of up to 260 feet.

Formerly Micronesian Telecommunications Corp, IT&E was a part of Verizon International. CITADEL acquired IT&E in 2005 after successfully navigating the US CIFUS process and the Federal Communications Commission.
