What You Will Do:
- Lead project teams delivering a variety of structural engineering projects, including new building design, renovations, assessments, and reports, serving as the Professional Engineer responsible for the design and completion of projects.
- Develop budgets, work plans, and supervise project scopes to achieve high-quality work on schedule from concept through design and construction. Drive overall project progress to meet performance standards and ensure exceptional deliverables.
- Prepare and review structural designs, calculations, analysis models, drawings, specifications, and reports, coordinating with other disciplines and team members, both internally and externally.
- Conduct site visits for review of structural work on new construction or preparation of structural assessments of existing buildings.
- Provide technical coaching to project team members and mentorship to junior engineers as they advance in their careers.
- Maintain existing client relationships while developing new connections with industry affiliates. Engage in proposal writing and business development activities.
- Occasionally travel within Canada for site assessments and project support.
What You Bring to the Table:
- Bachelors degree in Engineering with a focus on Structural Engineering; Masters degree preferred.
- Licensed Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) with APEGA or PEO.
- Minimum 10 years of experience in structural consulting, including leading design teams and successfully delivering projects on budget and schedule.
- Experience in the design of steel, concrete, masonry, and wood structures, as well as seismic design and building codes.
- Proficiency with structural design software (e.g., ETABS, SAP, SAFE, RISA, Revit).
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, capable of interacting with clients and stakeholders at all levels.
- Proven project management and leadership skills in a consulting environment.
- A strong network of contacts in the private sector is an asset.
