Technologist/Designer – Public Sector
Location: Toronto, ON - 5 days on site
$80,000-$90,000
City Build Recruitment is working with our client to recruit a Technical Designer to join their Public Buildings sector team in Toronto.
Our client is widely recognized for delivering complex public-sector projects, including government buildings, cultural institutions, campuses, and civic facilities. The studio values strong technical rigor, collaboration, and design thinking.
The Role
As a Technical Designer, you will be responsible for translating design intent into high-quality technical solutions and construction documentation. You will work collaboratively with architects, engineers, and consultants to develop efficient, coordinated, and buildable design outcomes across all phases of the project lifecycle.
This role is well suited to an experienced technical professional who enjoys problem-solving, coordination, and working on meaningful public projects.
Key Responsibilities

Develop technical designs and produce architectural drawings that meet quality standards, project schedules, and budget requirements

Support all phases of the project lifecycle, from programming and schematic design through construction documentation and delivery

Conduct code research, material and building systems analysis, and area calculations

Evaluate site conditions and participate in site surveys

Review shop drawings and consultant documentation

Prepare and process permit responses and coordinate revisions with engineers and consultants

Coordinate with contractors, sub-consultants, and authorities having jurisdiction to address constructability issues and client concerns

Collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams to ensure coordinated and compliant design solutions
Required Skills & Qualifications

Completion of a relevant post-secondary program in architecture or architectural technology

7–10 years of professional project experience

Experience across all phases of architectural projects

Strong proficiency in Revit and AutoCAD

Solid understanding of building codes, construction methods, and material technologies

Familiarity with MEP and structural systems

Strong coordination and communication skills

Eligibility and ability to obtain security clearance

Registration with a professional architectural association is considered an asset
-
Experience working on public-sector projects is an asset
