The Bid Writer role involves supporting the business and in particular the CEO, Bid Managers (BM), Bid Writers (BW) and Account Managers (AM) in writing and developing a response to customer’s tenders (PQQs, RFPs, ITTs).

The focus of the role is on developing a proposal/bid structure and then researching it to craft and bespoke response to buyer requirements. The role also requires reviewing and editing previously written content where necessary, working with other bid team members to produce written bid responses and presentation collateral in line with deadlines. There is a project management element that involves engaging with the CEO/BM/BW/AM to understand the customer’s requirements; ensuring projects are tracked to always be on schedule; and developing bid resources to improve efficiency and win rates. You will have multiple working relationships with Bid Writers, Bid Managers and Account Managers. Meeting tender deadlines. Ensuring correct governance is followed, especially for progress of tender/bid content. Evidenced early planning and storyboard mapping. Reviewing the quality of content

Key Responsibilities Competencies

Bid Planning, including: Project plans (e.g. using project management software), Daily bid progress management, company wide monitoring of project loads (identify pinch points, adapt to changing timelines). Ensuring bids keep on schedule. Completing statutory and non-qualitative bid content (e.g. PQQ prep, client information, references, etc.)

Educated to A level or equivalent.

Bid writing experience and demonstrable win rate.

High attention to detail with an excellent editing and proofing ability.

Excellent literacy skills, with an extensive vocabulary.

Strong inter-personal and planning skills.

Ability to handle multiple bids at one time, thrives in a busy environment .

A positive contributor to teamwork Good IT skills - must have experience of Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Adobe.

Desirable skills:

Qualification to Degree level or equivalent.

Soft FM Sector experience.

Familiarity with the Shipley and APMP good practice in bidding methodologies.
