Background:

Under general supervision the Director of Business Applications assists and supports the business units of the company in achieving optimal efficiencies and productivity through effective use of automated tools and systems while applying continuous improvement tools and concepts.

Responsibilities:

  • Reviews, analyzes, and evaluates processes and systems. Formulates enhancements and changes to existing processes and systems to support evolving business strategies. Identifies and advocates new opportunities for improved processes and systems.

  • Responsible for work on assigned projects to create detailed implementation plans under deadlines. Serves as the primary interface between business unit managers and leads, users and the Information Technology Department to ensure responsive, effective support is provided consistent with established priorities. Responsible for working with the business leads to ensure they have fully understood and requirements and signed off on each specification. Once tasks are ready for testing, ensure testing of the specification is completed by the business unit and approved by the lead.

  • Reviews and evaluates proposals for new processes and systems to determine operational, functional, and technical feasibility. Analyzes, investigates, and helps develop proposed solutions to business-sponsored initiatives. Develops and maintains a thorough understanding of the capabilities, operations, and technical architecture of application software systems supporting Geiger business units. Able to provide direct support to users of these systems through refined skills in using the tools available and in-depth understanding of the related databases.

  • Provides education and training to supported system users in coordination with the Business unit leads. Develops and maintains systems-related documentation for supported applications. Services Help Desk support requests as assigned.

  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Requirements:


  • Work requires a minimum of one year of related experience; proven communication skills (verbal and written) required.

  • Under general supervision, provide comprehensive direct support for the information technology needs of assigned Geiger constituencies. Unresolved issues with inability to meet requirements are referred to the Director of Business Applications.

  • Provide functional and technical support to system users of assigned business units.

  • Duties require proficiency in systems analysis and project management practices and an understanding of business and information technology fundamentals equivalent to a two year college degree in business or management. Position requires the attainment of industry certification at the CAS (Certified Advertising Specialist) level and internal continuous improvement certification at the CIP (Continuous Improvement Practitioner) level within established time frames.
